Acne is a skin condition that most of us suffer from at some point in our lives. Often associated with teenagers, acne also affects adults and even infants. While hardly rare, sufferers of acne often feel ashamed, embarrassed or stressed by the condition.
Call them what you want;
spots, pimples, zits. At the end of the day, if you have them, then you want
them gone. While our most pressing desire is usually just to get rid of the
ones we’ve got – and we’ll get to that later – preventing acne, or preventing
it from getting any worse, is far more effective in the long term.
There are many steps you can
take to help cure your acne:
- Your doctor can prescribe topical treatments and other medication, particularly in more severe cases.
- There are many natural, holistic approaches of preventing acne too; you can read more on them here.
- A good skin regime is a no-brainer. At the very least, you should cleanse your skin thoroughly every morning and night with a non-oily cleanser. Ensure your cleanser is not too harsh or overly-drying, as these can cause the skin to overcompensate and produce excess oil.
- What you eat can play an important role; read more about an acne free diet here.
- If you have long hair, try to keep it tied back away from your face.
- Avoid touching or picking at your face; particularly avoid picking or popping pimples. Our page on acne excoriee has more information on this matter.
